Current and proposed surveys |
|
The following surveys are proposed:
Starting in late March 2006, Woodside will do a three-dimensional seismic survey in Tasmanian exploration permits T/30P and T/34P. The survey will be within an operational area of about 2800sqkm and is expected to take up to 42 days. The survey area is centred about 70km north-west of King Island on the outer edge of the Continental Shelf. Water depth in the area ranges from about 120m to more than 1800m. See the attached flyer for more detail;

Fugro Australia Pty Ltd will commence a data gathering survey in the Kipper gas field area on Monday 27 March, with approximate co-ordinates of -38.18064 Latitude; 148.58949 Longitude. The vessel will then survey proposed pipeline corridors between Esso/BHP Billiton's West Tuna, Marlin and Snapper platforms. The survey is likely to take about two weeks, subject to weather. In addition to this data gathering survey, the Mermaid Achiever will return to Bass Strait on or about 24th April for about 3 days, to gather some seabed samples within the survey corridors. The equipment used for this activity is deployed and retrieved from just beyond the back of the vessel. The attached document provides some background material that you may find useful;
