Minister David Llewellyn has today announced the appointment of Mr Wes Ford as the new DPIWE Fishing Manager.
Tasmania's peak industry body the Tasmanian Fishing Industry Council supports this decision and congratulates Wes on today's announcement.
The Chief Executive of TFIC Bob Lister said "Wes is a very competent and energetic fisheries manager who will undoubtedly be very successful in his new role as DPIWE Director, Marine Resources.
On behalf of Tasmania's commercial fishing and aquaculture industries we welcome his appointment and look forward to working with him to continue the ecological and sustainable management of our very valuable State marine resources.
Tasmania's wild fishing and aquaculture sectors are worth $258m. per annum at beach price and competent management on a cooperative basis between industry and government is essential if we are all to progress and prosper." Bob Lister said.
